How to Merge PDFs on Mac

Combine multiple PDFs in macOS Preview, in our browser-side tool, or via a single quick command.

Preview

Open the first PDF → show thumbnails → drag other PDFs into the sidebar. Drag individual pages to reorder.

In-browser

PDF Split extracts specific pages; for combining multiple PDFs afterward you need a separate page-merger tool. PDF Compress does not combine.

Command line

A one-liner using PyPDF2:

python3 -c ‘import sys; from PyPDF2 import PdfMerger; m=PdfMerger(); [m.add(open(f, “rb”)) for f in sys.argv[1:]]; m.write(“merged.pdf”)’ a.pdf b.pdf

Note

macOS Preview is the simplest path. For batch work, the command line is faster.
