Upscale a low-resolution photo with bicubic interpolation and a tunable unsharp mask, in your browser, no upload.

Tool

Unpixelate Image accepts any bitmap, applies 2x/3x/4x bicubic upsampling and a tunable unsharp mask.

Limits

Pixelation comes from insufficient sampling in the original: you cannot truly ‘restore’ lost detail, but you can make the photo look better via interpolation + sharpening, which is sufficient for small photos, social sharing, and thumbnails.

When to swap tools

If your ‘pixelation’ is compression rather than low resolution, first try Image Compress with a lower compression ratio.

Note

This is a 2D algorithm. Real blind super-resolution needs AI models (tens of MB) and is not yet feasible to run in-browser instantly without sacrificing UX.
